Does Working From Home Equal Low Wages?
Working from home has been one of the most amazing business ventures I have created. Of course, working from home for me was a business venture that I worked very hard to establish. However, for those working for an employer, I cannot speak on that experience.
For the most part, individuals that I know who are working from home for an employer, do not seem to indicate a significant decrease in their rate of pay when comparing it to workers who are working in the office. Experts say that when it comes to choosing to work from home for an employer, you should do your research to ensure you learn the rates based on your location. With this information, you can typically negotiate your rate of pay.
In my business, we do not have the capability to negotiate a rate of pay. This information is determined by the client before a vacancy announcement is posted. But as a contractor, the best part of this role is that you are not required to service for a client that is not offering the rate you are seeking. For me, if a client is offering a low rate of pay for the services, I just overlook them and find a client that is actually going to pay at least the base rate I am looking for. Anything below my minimum is not an option for me. I teach my agents to maintain that same stance when it comes to choosing a client to work for.
Remember, you are in control of your decisions. You are able to decide whether the opportunity is worth your time and energy based on the rate that is offered. No one can make you accept anything. So as long as you share the amazing skills and attributes you will bring to the table, this will have the employer look more carefully at what they offer when they understand that you are not desperate enough to take a low wage opportunity. There are so many opportunities available today that it is now widely accepted that you do not have to accept nickels and dimes. The Great Resignation is a real phenomenon because people have learned alternatives method of securing decent wages outside of the traditional methods we have known.
If you are working from home, please be sure to share your thoughts on this topic and let us know what you think.
Wishing you all the best!!!
